1. Opening: Directed to Father in heaven (a child to a father) 2. A showing of respect (acknowledging God is holy, “hallowed be they name”) 3. A citizen in the kingdom of God, “Thy kingdom” 4. A request for God’s will to be done (on earth as it is in heaven) |

Matthew 6:9 (KJV) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Matthew 6:10 (KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. |

The First Prayer It was a lonely prayer (withdrawn… a stones cast). It was a humble prayer (he fell on his face / fell on the ground, kneeled down). It was a filial prayer (from child to parent “Abba, Father”). It was an earnest prayer (he prayed earnestly). It was an answered prayer (an angel appeared unto him… strengthening him). |
